Quirky Suit Mavens Lord Willy’s Launch Their First Ready-to-Wear Line

Ready to dress like a ‘Royal Bastard’?

Tradition is one thing, and we dig it.

But old-fashioned? Save that for cocktail hour.

And expert NYC suitery Lord Willy’s appears to agree: after 12 years in the bespoke suiting game, the British expat duo has finally launched their first ready-to-wear line.

It’s understated yet elegant, with a roguish name to match: Royal Bastard. And it doesn’t skimp one bit on Lord Willy’s highly exacting standards.

Founders Mr. and Mrs. Wilcox scoured the planet to find a tailoring studio poised for the job. They settled on exclusive cloth from Holland and Sherry of Saville Row, with all the tailoring performed in Europe. The entire line comes in a classic, slim silhouette, but without the classic Willy’s price: each piece starts at $1,550.

Still as detailed and eccentric as we’ve come to expect, the suits feature a slanted side and ticket pockets, working horn buttons, a beltless trouser complete with side adjusters and a complimentary navy pocket square. Coming out of the gates, Royal Bastard will feature six styles, with future plans for some Glen plaid check and flannel numbers come fall.

For any gent sizes 38R-42R who wants niche, standout suiting you simply won’t find at a bigger-box outfit, the line fits bill: only 10-15 suits will be cut for each design.

It’s still high-flying quality suiting, for certain. But it’s also a refreshing reminder that you don’t have to take yourself so damn seriously, no matter what you’re wearing.
