The Five Summer Escapes Every New Yorker Needs on the Calendar

Yachts on demand, and other important stuff

Already daydreaming of Summer Fridays and three-day weekends?

We feel you. They’re coming in hot — pun very much intended.

Want to know what happens even faster? Every decent spot from here to Quebec booking up solid through September.

So we’ve rounded up five hard-to-book escapes to suit every man’s desires, from fly fishing to on-demand yachts, long-haul hikes to doing nothing at all.

So you want an adventure: Scribner’s Catskill Lodge
Scribner’s has fueled the spirits of explorers looking for something new since 1966. Nearby, you’ll find such excursions as Storm King Art Center, Saugerties historic lighthouse and some serious vistas of the Hudson from the lookout on Huckleberry Point trail. On site, their Prospect Restaurant has all the local fare and spirits you need, and there’s also an open fire pit for more domestic appetites.

So you want to relax: Castle Hill Inn
This Rhode Island escape is an authentic Newport gem — elegant and supremely chill. The coastal mansion is comprised of seven guestrooms and suites along with 24 private waterfront dwellings, including chalets, beach houses and cottages. Leisurely activities include clambakes, bonfires, lawn games, yoga, kayaking, visits to the newly renovated Retreat spa and, of course, stargazing.

So you want to hit the beach: Bungalow Hotel
Kitschy for certain. But, hey, it’s the Jersey Shore. Bungalow Hotel is just a stone’s throw from the city, meaning you’ll be beachside in record time. The rooms come complete with Cali king beds and fireplaces, while the property is laden with activities, from billiards to foosball to a vibrant cocktail lounge. Days will be spent in a lounge chair at Le Club with the waves crashing at your feet (drink in hand), while nights will melt away at outdoor brasserie Avenue, a one-way culinary ticket to the south of France.

So you want to take to the water: Yachtlife
Calling all sea-faring roués: you don’t need to own a yacht to grace one. The world’s first yacht charter app offers up 30 to 165-foot yachts in NYC and the Hamps complete with crew and even catering. Just be sure to plan in advance.

So you want to camp … er, glamp: Tentrr
Tentrr is back with more serene, remote sites than ever, and they’re ready to white-glove your outdoors experience. On a private plot of land, they’ll set up and take down your entire campsite for you, which site includes a large canvas tent, queen-sized cot, dome tent, water, shower, loo, fire pit, grill, lounge chairs, stove and more. To boot, they’ll provide you with a list of site-specific suggested activities. All the adventure, none of the labor.
