Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl Reacts to Hearing the First Song He Ever Wrote

February 20, 2017 5:00 am

Dave Grohl is now, by any standard, a veteran of the music biz. He was the drummer for Nirvana, whose legendary album Nevermind came out in 1991. He became the frontman for the Foo Fighters, who released their debut back in 1995. So it’s nice to see him go back to the days when he was just getting started. The video below finds Grohl listening to the first song he ever wrote, “Gods Look Down,” from back when he was with the group Scream. (He’s joined for the experience by Barrett Jones, co-producer of the Foos’ debut.) The recording was made in 1989, when Grohl was just 20. Based on this tune, would we have expected him to be around over 27 years later? Watching his reaction, even Dave knows he’s come a long way. Journey into the past below.
