This is a twist ending that nobody wanted for Justice League.
Zack Snyder has stepped away from the Warner Bros. superhero team film, to be with his family after his daughter committed suicide back in March, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Snyder has brought in Joss Whedon, who directed The Avengers and is developing a Batgirl movie for the studio, to finish post-production on the project for him. Snyder’s wife, who is one of the film’s producers, will also be stepping away from daily duties.
The movie’s production had been halted for two weeks following the 20-year-old Autumn’s death. But the heartbreak proved too much for the director and his wife to continue on:
“In my mind, I thought it was a cathartic thing to go back to work, to just bury myself and see if that was the way through it,” Snyder told THR. “The demands of this job are pretty intense. It is all-consuming. And in the last two months, I’ve come to the realization … I’ve decided to take a step back from the movie to be with my family, be with my kids, who really need me. They are all having a hard time. I’m having a hard time.”
Justice League, starring Gal Gadot, Ben Affleck and Jason Momoa, is still set for a Nov. 17 release.
