This looks like a job for…. Joss Whedon.

The new Justice League trailer dropped at New York Comic Con this weekend, whipping up love on social media in a single bound, and giving a glimpse at the possible influences brought to the film by Whedon — who took over post-production and reshoot duties from director Zack Snyder earlier this year.

Snyder stepped away from the Warner Bros. super hero team-up flick for personal reasons after his daughter Autumn, 20, committed suicide in March, and asked his friend to finish Justice League.

Whedon has the perfect pedigree in the genre — having directed two Avengers movies for Marvel and started development of a Batgirl movie for Warner Bros. And many fans were hopeful that his presence would boost both the humor and emotional heft that were largely missing from Snyder’s first two forays into the DC Cinematic Universe, Man of Steel and Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Both those qualities seemed to be on display in the new Justice League trailer: It opens with a mournful scene of Lois Lane (Amy Adams) coming to terms with the death of her fiancé, Superman (Henry Cavill), and Batman (Ben Affleck) trading quips with The Flash (Ezra Miller). Emotion: check. Humor: check.

And most importantly for fans, there will clearly be plenty of action, judging by the scenes of CGI “parademons” being vanquished by Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa) and Cyborg (Ray Fisher).

Justice League opens Nov. 17.
