Christian Bale has a reputation in Hollywood for his ability to lose himself in his roles so completely that he’s barely recognizable. But pulling off his next character would be a whole other level of achievement.

Per The New York Times, the Wales-born actor is in talks to play former vice president Dick Cheney in a biopic from Paramount Pictures and Plan B Entertainment.

Bale dropped 60 pounds for his critically acclaimed role in The Machinist and packed on 43 to play the slightly pillowy Irving Rosenfeld in American Hustle. He’s played a really bad man in American Psycho, and the Batman in The Dark Knight trilogy. So he may have the range to make up for his clear physical discrepancy with the real Cheney.

According to the report, Steve Carell could wind up as former defense secretary Donald Rumsfeld and Amy Adams could be reunited with Bale, her American Hustle co-star, as Cheney’s wife, Lynne.

Adam McKay, who directed The Big Short will helm the biopic, according to Variety.
