When I come across deals on the internet that I then pass onto you, the reader, I normally understand why there’s a discount. Maybe it’s last season’s gear, maybe the company is obligated to slash prices because of sale holidays like Black Friday, or maybe they ordered way too much stuff and need to offload it. But when it comes to Patagonia’s Steel Forge Denim Jacket, which is currently 50% off, I legitimately have no idea why it’s on sale.

The Steel Forge Jacket is cut and sewn in the U.S., made from American-grown organic cotton for the denim and natural indigo for the dye, and stands out as quite possibly the toughest jean jacket you’ve ever worn because it’s blended with Dyneema, a fiber that’s 15 times stronger than steel in weight and normally used in $1,000 winter jackets and ultralight camping gear. Plus, it’s available in sizes from small to 3XL. And yet, it’s currently $100 off.

Sure, it’s a little bit on the burly side instead of the traditional fashion-forward denim jackets you’ll find on internet lists (and per the reviews, it runs a little big, so be aware when you’re ordering). But if you want your jean jacket to last you for a lifetime, whether you’re working outside or just hanging at the brewery, the Steel Forge is probably your best bet. And again, you seriously can’t beat this price.
