Peyote: the ol’ cactus pudding.

Sacramental rite for the Navajo. Helped Ginsberg write Howl. Cleans the digestive tract, they say.

And inspiration for beaded Mexican skull art, apparently.

You’ll find that and more at the new men’s only boutique from Mohawk General Store, soft-opening today.

This long room – gallery white on one side and indigo on the other – features those Mexican skulls, plus an expanded collection of brands (Dries Van Noten, Tellason, Hamilton Shirt Co., Gitman Bros.) hanging on a fifty-foot blackened steel rack.

Also new to the collection: a limited-edition set of palm-sized bronze busts of David Bowie, Iggy Pop and Tom Waits — all of which owner Kevin Carney found at the Austin Psych Fest.

In the back, a DJ booth and a pop-up space for visiting designers, the first being Our Legacy.

The official opening kicks off Thursday with a party (6-9 p.m.) featuring photographs from Nicholas Alan Cope’s new book, Whitewash.

Consider this your head start.
