Clean Lines

Cutting out the middleman usually means killing off mom-and-pop stores, or killing off Frankie Muniz.

But if you’re in Silver Lake, it means mimosas.

Introducing Modern Nature, a casual clothing boutique founded by two neighbors taking their wares straight to the people — and also serving those people mimosas — just now open in Silver Lake.

This is where you should be doing your last-minute holiday shopping.

Or just stocking up on the softest t-shirts to ever grace your torso.

Partners John Swartz and Stacey Clark hawk two styles — slim and thin, or regular and beefy.

Both are as soft as The Shutter’s sheets and come in sharp white, black, grey, green, and blue. Come spring they’ll introduce sweats and underwear.

Also on the shelves: locally-made THVM Atelier jeans, Malin+Goetz toiletries and candles, classic large-faced Braun watches, and those comfortably stylish Urbanears headphones.

And on the walls: a rotating selection of art, starting with “Paradise Now,” a photo essay on modern design by New York Times fashion photographer, Ryan Koopmans.

Come January, the shop will host Monday night parties featuring wine from Silver Lake Wines, their neighbor.

It’s all good in this ‘hood.
