There are a hundred reasons why I don’t live in a home designed by a world-famous architect, despite interest. Numbers 1-99 start and end with the word “budget,” and the last one owes to the fact that there are few — if any — on the market to begin with.

But if you, like I, have ever dreamed of a home that thinks outside-the-box while staying reasonably within budget, here they are: distinguished, limited-edition prefab homes by some of the world’s most renowned architects.

Meet Revolution Precrafted, the brainchild of Manila-based real-estate developer Robbie Antonio, who wanted to link the worlds of artists, designers and architects up with discerning would-be homebuyers in a project that “democratizes high design,” making homes that are transportable, accessible and collectible.

You can purchase them online for around $300K (not including land or site prep) and have it delivered anywhere in the world. Available designs include one based off of historical house museum Glass House by Philip Johnson (pictured above).

Not in the market for a home, but still into the concept? Also on offer are outdoor pavilions, comfy, artsy spaces for your yard, designed by the likes of Daniel Libeskind, Zaha Hadid and Sou Fujimoto.

It’s a genuinely good idea that caters to design-minded people who might not necessarily have unlimited funds, but want their dream home nonetheless. That basically makes it the equivalent of prêt–à–porter fashion for the real estate world: designer-made and ready-to-wear … or live in, in this case.
