Wanna Pair Your Home’s Lighting to an NBA Arena?
Courtside seats from the comfort of your couch
If you were even a casual NBA fan in the ‘90s, you probably recall the Bulls’ iconic introduction sequence, with “Sirius” by the Alan Parsons Project blaring out while MJ and the boys careered out of the tunnel and spastic lights flashed all over the United Center.
A lot has changed in the league since those days, but the tradition of having killer intros is still alive and well.
Now, in order to let fans get the arena experience without having to shell out $15 for a pregame beer, Philips and the Golden State Warriors have partnered up on an innovative new lighting system that will allow fans of the Dubs to convert their homes into hoophead paradises. After pairing with Golden State’s official app, the Philips Hue lighting system will automatically flash blue and gold at the start of every game and to celebrate a victory. The system can also be set to flash during the game if a specific play happens or an important update is given.

“We are bringing the sports arena experience directly into fans’ homes,” said Tom Insprucker of Philips Lighting. “It has never been easier for lighting to help fans immerse themselves in and enhance the thrill of live sporting events — and this is just the beginning of our collaboration.”
We’re hoping that collaboration eventually leads to fans of all the teams in the Association being able to take advantage of the lighting technology, but we’ll happily take the Warriors for now.
