Each week, our inbox runneth over with news of gear, apparel and tech releases from around the world. In this feature, we’ll parse through the best of them. Today: A collab with John Mayer and G-Shock, a Grateful Dead and Smartwool collection and your very own personalized whisky.

Smartwool

Smartwool x Grateful Dead Capsule Collection

The capsule collection from the merino wizards at Smartwool, features artwork from illustrator/pro skier Chris Benchetler. You’ll find several of Smartwool’s signature merino base layers sporting Benchetler’s work, as well as two pairs of socks — one everyday, one ski-focused. Anyone familiar with Smartwool gear will tell you that their stuff is built to last as long as Bill’s love for “New Speedway Boogie” and keep you warm and toasty the entire time. Pieces are limited-edition though, so you best boogie quick.

Huckberry

Flint and Tinder Golden Bear Leather Bomber

These two brands have teamed up before on limited-edition jackets — that is, Huckberry’s in-house brand Flint and Tinder and the S.F. icon Golden Bear — but they seem to be upping the ante each time. This bomber eschews modern, lightweight designs for a classic, cold-weather look, done up with nubuck leather with a removable sherpa collar, and available in both black and tobacco brown (though you better hurry if you want the latter).

Casio G-Shock Ref. 6900 by John Mayer

Did we sign up to receive a notification when this collaboration between John Mayer (a devout watch collector) and G-Shock went up for sale? Yes. Did we also miss out on the chance of buying one — meaning a cheap digital watch that essentially only got a new color story here, plus a few other minor aesthetic changes — because it sold out in under 10 minutes? Also yes. Snark aside, this is a brilliant collaboration (one that you can read about here) even in a world where economical watch brands are thriving on collaboration. We’re not sure they’ll restock this, but you can sign up for notifications just in case.

Crown Royal
Sponsored by Crown Royal

Crown Royal Canadian Whisky

As 2020 draws to a close, it’s safe to say the holidays will be a little different this year. Thus a bottle of top-shelf whisky is very much the name of the game when it comes to holiday gifting, and for that you should look no further than storied Canadian distillers Crown Royal. No matter who you’re shopping for, they’ve got an expression to mark the occasion — from the classic Deluxe to the velvety Reserve to the sophisticated XR. This holiday season, all are available with customizable labels and bags so you can give the ultimate gift with a personal message for the special people in your life. Our suggestion: “Happy holidays, may we raise a glass together again soon.”

Hell’s Hard Seltzers By Gordon Ramsey

It was only a matter of time before celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay got into the hard seltzer game. These are four “unapologetically bold” flavors here— Knicker Twist (passion fruit, pineapple, orange), Mean Green (kiwi, lime, mint and pineapple),  Berry Inferno (peach, blueberry and raspberry) and That’s Forked (key lime and vanilla). According to The Drinks Business, all the releases were inspired by popular menu items from Ramsay’s Hell’s Kitchen.

Timex

Q Timex Marmont 1975 Reissue

Does this new edition to the increasingly popular Q Timex roster live up to the panache of its namesake, the Chateau Marmont? I don’t know if we’d go that far, but for a quartz watch, the elegant cushion case, sunray dial and gold-tone finish certainly make this an attractive option if you need something to spice up your collection of bulky divers and runabout smartwatches.

Bespoke Post

Hornitos Tequila x Bespoke Post Shot Taker

A collaboration between Bespoke Post and Hornitos tequila, this box of goods focuses on smaller lifestyle brands who “took a shot” … what you’ll get here is a blood orange scented candle, a vegan friendly face oil, handcrafted hot sauce, a USB-powered 30 ft. camping light and a waxed canvas utility roll that just happens to work well with holding bar tools. Note: You’ll need to provide your own tequila.

Rhone

Rhone The Bolinas Collection

Joggers, crewnecks, ponchos and beach shorts inspired by a surf town in Northern California. That means this is soft, durable, stretchy and sun-washed gear for your laidback days (which’ll come again soon)

Noah NY

Noah x Keith Haring

If you’re looking for a way to make your holiday shopping have a bigger impact this year, Noah is using their annual Keith Haring holiday collaboration to donate proceeds to New York Cares, a nonprofit organization that helps to address homelessness, educational inequality and other issues in New York City. The collection, which consists of a shirt, ornament candle, wrapping paper and card all bearing Haring’s iconic figures, will be crucial in helping New York Cares carry out their annual Coat Drive, which will be all the more important this year with both a harsh winter and pandemic to contend with.

Rowing Blazers

Rowing Blazers x Fila Ski

For those thinking of hitting the slopes at some point this winter, stand out among all the other skiers with Rowing Blazers and FILA Ski limited-edition collaboration. Inspired by the brand’s Italian skiing designs of the ‘90s, the capsule is dominated by loud shades of teal, pink, magenta and highlight yellow, making for a skiing kit that’s bound to garner attention. You’ll be a blur of ‘90s nostalgia as you speed down the slopes.

Booker’s Bourbon Batch 2020-03 “Pigskin Batch”

For its third batch of its 2020 collection, Booker’s Bourbon has released Batch 2020-03, otherwise known as “Pigskin Batch.” The name is a nod to the 6’4″, 300-pound 6th Generation Master Distiller Booker Noe’s love for American football. Containing aroma notes of brown sweets and a bit of vanilla, the taste is big and bold like the Master Distiller, with a long, warm finish.

Massena

Unimatic x Massena LAB Ref. U1-MLM

We can think of at least a few watches in recent memory that use the French navy of bygone decades as inspiration, but that redundancy doesn’t lessen the effect of this second collaboration between Unimatic (a small-run watchmaker you should be paying attention to) and Massena LAB. As with the John Mayer G-Shock, this is sold out, so take note: if you like these styles, make sure to sign up for their newsletters about new releases.
