So they’re not technically free. But Leatherman’s new FREE K Series is pretty damn inexpensive for a multitool.

The FREE platform utilizes magnetic architecture in its design, so everything on these multitools is easier to open, handle and close with one hand. As well, the proprietary locking system also integrates magnets, reducing the tool’s general wear and tear (you’ll still hear a click when a tool is locked into place, however).

Each of the four new models features a 3.35” 420HC stainless steel blade and up to eight additional tools (pry tool, awl, bottle openers, screwdrivers, etc.). The K4 models, for $10 more, add spring-action scissors.

“If you appreciate a multi-tool but don’t need the pliers, this is all the tool you need,” as Leatherman’s design engineer Adam Lazenby notes.

Plus, they’re all made in the USA and come with a 25-year guarantee.
