Enter Google Clips, your set-it-and-forget-it photo solution. A tiny, thin square camera, Clips recognizes “great expressions, lighting and framing” so it can capture motion photos on the go, without your input. Yep, motion photos — think of these as short, close-up video clips sans audio.
It also gets smarter over time, so Clips will start to recognize familiar faces (including pets). It plays well with Google Photos (to form photo albums or movies) and Pixel phones (which offer free unlimited storage for your clips). The device works as a clip and also comes with a stand, so you can set it up in an ideal spot and capture pics with minimal hand-holding. Literally.
Google Clips was announced last October, but the camera was only available to buy starting this week at $249. And that life moment didn’t last long; there’s already a waitlist.
