The Fliteboard Is Here When You Give Up on Those Surfing Lessons

All electric. Zero effort.

“The best surfer out there is the one having the most fun.”

That’s all well and good, legendary American surfer Phil Edwards, but what’s a person to do if getting caught in the undertow isn’t your idea of fun?

Get a Fliteboard eFoil, that’s what.

It’s a personal electric hydrofoil board, or flying surfboard, for all intents and purposes. While this Australian creation has the same basic design as the Lift eFoil that we wrote about back in 2017, the Fliteboard comes in three models: air, standard and pro (corresponding to difficulty levels of easy, medium and hard).

So even if you’ve been christened a kook amid the swells, don’t head back to the cabana just yet. Hop on one of these remote-controlled bad boys, and thanks to a top speed of almost 25 MPH and top range of 15.5 miles, you’ll be able to surf circles around the locals and still have enough juice to slip out to the yacht party happening offshore.

The only downside? Since they’re made Down Under, Fliteboard won’t be shipping to the U.S. until February of next year.

But with a hefty price tag of $10,995, that’ll give you just enough time to save up in time for summer 2019.
