My walk to the subway is about 15 minutes. On a blustery December morning, those are the worst 15 minutes of my day.

Even after bundling up in a winter coat, scarf, hat, multiple layers (cheap tip: Uniqlo’s Heattech long sleeves are currently just $15 and they’re a lifesaver) and giant wireless headphones that double as earmuffs, the one thing that’ll save my on my trek up the windy Eastern Parkway is hot coffee.

Holding that java at a perfect heated temp? My Contigo.

A stainless steel travel mug, this tumbler is both leak- and spill-proof (you can lock your beverages in with a switch on the side, and unlock and sip with a push of a button) and keeps my beverages warm for up to 5 hours. Post-walk, I’ve thrown a half-sipped Contigo into my backpack and never had to clean up a mess … and then finished my beverage an hour later at work.

(Bonus: You can throw the top part in the dishwasher, and the mug itself is an easy sink scrub.)

Amazon’s been throwing random big sales on the Contigo all year, but a 16 oz. Contigo is never more and usually far less than $20 (today, they’re $15-$19, and randomly a 20 oz. SnapSeal version is heavily discounted to just $11), with prices for size and color constantly shifting. One constant: If you have Prime account, you get free same-day shipping.
