These Boots Will Basically Turn You Into a Polar Icebreaker

Get bent, Winter

There was a moment this past week in my hometown of Chicago where it got colder than the most frigid places in the solar system, including Mars.

If you, like me, live in a place where a trip to the corner store can be mistaken for an expedition through the Northwest Passage, you’ve probably got your ear to the ice when it comes to gearing up proper.

Enter the newly announced Canuk Titanium Boots from Columbia Sportswear. With its angular alpine silhouette, it looks like it’s ready to traverse through an Arctic tundra. It helps, however, that the specs seem to prove as much.

With its waterproof construction, the Canuk boots feature Columbia’s Omni-Heat reflective coating lining that’ll do well to maintain heat as you work harder. And it’s finished off with a durable, traction-happy outsole made in collaboration with Michelin tires.

The only rub: these boots are set to release next year … in the fall.

Guess I’ll just stay indoors in the interim.
