Yelp Will Soon Wait in Line For You at Restaurants

No reservations? No problem.

“It’s not fair that people are seated first-come, first-serve. It should be based on who’s hungriest.”

Elaine on Seinfeld was a genius. And while not promising that level of service, Yelp’s new feature could soften the hunger pains associated with waiting in restaurant lines.

The crowd-sourced city directory just partnered with Nowait, an app that allows diners to check wait times and even “get in line” without having to go to the restaurant—specifically, those stubborn dining establishments that refuse to accept reservations. Diners are texted when their table is ready.

As it stands now, Nowait is available in all 50 states and over 4,000 restaurants, from chains to local eateries.

While currently available on Nowait’s own app, the collaborative feature won’t be baked in Yelp’s smartphone app for at least another couple of months.

Well, here’s to waiting.
