Sorry Royal Wedding, the International Cultural Event of the Weekend Is World Whisky Day

To commemorate it, we got a lesson in worldwide whisky from three experts.

On March 27, spirits lovers around the world raised a dram for International Whisky Day.

Since one worldwide whisky day isn’t nearly enough, rocks glasses across the globe are going to be hoisted once again in honor of World Whisky Day tomorrow. 

To help get you ready to celebrate, we talked to a trio of whiskey experts from Highlands NYCThe Copper Still and The Flatiron Room in New York City about what makes Japanese, Canadian and Scotch whisky,  along with American and Irish whiskey, unique as well as awesome.

So kick back, pour yourself a few fingers of brown and enjoy a quick lesson in worldwide Whiskey 101.  Once you’re up to speed, check out cocktail recipes from some of the drinks in the video below.

Aberlour Old Fashioned 
2 oz Aberlour 12-Year-Old Single Malt Scotch
0.5 oz Demerara syrup (1:1 water and sugar)
2 dash Angostura bitters
Add all ingredients to a mixing glass. Fill with ice and stir until cold.
Strain into a rocks glass with one large ice cube. Garnish with orange twist.

Summer Sour
2 ounces Smooth Ambler Old Scout American Whiskey
0.75-ounce lemon juice,
Bar spoon of raspberry jam preserve
1 egg white

Add all ingredients to a shaker and shake. Add ice to the shaker and shake again until cold. Fine strain into a chilled coupe.

Lovely Kyoto
Toki Japanese Whisky
Plum tea
Lemon juice
Soda
Lychee garnish

The Tipperary
1.5 oz Powers Irish Whiskey
0.75 oz Sweet Vermouth
0.75 oz Green Chartreuse
2 dashes of orange bitters

Add all ingredients into a mixing glass and fill with ice. Stir until cold. Strain into a chilled coupe and garnish with orange zest.
