5 Ridiculous Bar Carts

One doubles as a $23,000 steamer trunk

A drink is as much about presentation as contents.

I.e., you wouldn’t put your best Scotch in a Solo cup. Or pull the bottle out of an IKEA cabinet.

Which is why we’re impressed with the just-announced Chivas 12 Made For Gentlemen by Globe-Trotter

More a steamer trunk than a traditional bar cart, this collab between the Scotch brand Chivas Regal and the luxe luggage retailer Globe-Trotter is built from American white oak (inspired by Chivas’s oak casks) and features an engraved copper plaque forged from a retired Scotch still. And it doubles as luggage: besides the built-in mini bar (replete with mirrored back) there are compartments for shoes, suits and watches.

At $23,000, it’s a bit much, but all proceeds go to charity. A matching carry-on and “gift tin” are also available.

Too much for your blood? Don’t worry: there are drinks carriers for all aesthetics. Below are four more we dig.

Bottoms up.

Myrstrand Bar

These four hinged rosewood cube cabinets fold into a square (which doubles as a coffee table). Two sections feature fixed shelves, one has three drawers and one is entirely for bottle storage. As big as it is, its four wheels make it (theoretically) mobile.

Jerry Can Bar Cabinet

More portable than a traditional car, this Danish Fuel creation is crafted from a WWII kerosene can and features interior shelves of oak, smoked oak or walnut. From Danish Fuel, who also recraft vintage diesel carriers into bathroom cabinets and trolley luggage.

The Sidecar

Sidecar

A collab between celebrity mixologist Jim Meehan and leather goods maker Moore & Giles, this $13,000+ car features an aluminum frame with stained Virginia black walnut, a sealed butcher block bar top, padded leather shelves and leather-wrapped hexagonal brass handles, sliding drawers, brass rods, plus a “handsome hutch to showcase decanters or prized bottles.”

T.V. Bar Cart

An Etsy find: an actual 1970s analog television “upcycled into a bar.” The top of this wheeled cart is midnight black, a nice contrast to the wood TV set and gold painted interior (which also has a gold-painted shelf). Oh, and it lights up on the inside, because kitsch.
