Introducing Bunnahabhain’s 40-year, a one-off release from the ancient Scottish distillery — the only distillery in the area, by the way, that produces non-peated (read: non-smoky) malts.
Basically, this is as smooth as scotch whisky gets.
Bunnahabhain’s 40-year has a strong, earthy nose and hints of spice and vanilla. There’s some chocolate. Some caramel. The faintest tickle of ginger.
And the 40-year-old comes in a bottle with a label illustrated by Gaelic illustrator Iain McIntosh, tucked in a handcrafted oak gift box with a secret compartment, each individually numbered and hand-signed.
Like the best things in life, getting B’hain takes a bit of work. Only 750 bottles are available, and the 40-year won’t be released in the U.S. until March 1. But thanks to the Internet (and a modest shipping fee), you can order a bottle right now.
