Great Britain’s Royal Household is looking to hire a permanent special housekeeping assistant to Queen Elizabeth II, to live on site at Buckingham Palace. The full-time, five-day-a-week position pays about $22,274 per year—including a 15 percent employer contribution pension plan and benefits—with meals included. Also included are 33 vacation days, training and development, and access to the palace’s extensive recreational facilities. (Of course, you’ll also get your own room, so cost of living in ultra-expensive London will be fairly low.) As the job ad notes:
“This is no standard housekeeping role. You’ll work, and live, in stunning historic settings, ensuring that they’re presented to their best for colleagues, guests and, of course, the Royal Family.”
It’s not all fun and games, though. You’ll be tasked with cleaning and caring for the palace itself, including its carpets, furniture, priceless vases, and “irreplaceable” paintings (hint-hint: No shaky handed assistants need apply). We’re guessing your direct-report would be Vice Admiral Charles Anthony Johnstone-Burt CB, OBE, a former Royal Navy officer, so you better be on point. (That means no blaring this or this from your quarters ever, lest you find yourself on the other side of the gate.)
