Roll With the Brunches

Brunch is a time-honored tradition in New York: a time when we rise with the weekend sun, don our summer finery, and dine cheek-to-jowl with hundreds of strangers who had the exact same idea.

Get your juevos without all those rancheros at Haven’s Kitchen, offering their very first, very intimate “Brunch Club” this Saturday.

Haven’s Kitchen is a greenmarket cooking school and elegant dining space in a rustic former carriage house near Union Square, and their Brunch Club offers the opportunity to do what most popular brunch destinations in New York don’t: relax.

Limited to 40 diners, Brunch Club begins at 11am in HK’s cozy living room, where you can unwind with the Sunday paper as the waitstaff serves all-natural cocktails, La Colombe coffee and pastries by Bellocq Tea Atelier.

At noon, diners are invited into the family-style dining room to enjoy local, seasonal fare from HK’s chef — a former private chef and Per Se vet who plates specialties like baked eggs with spicy smoked tomato sauce, and house-made buttermilk biscuits with ricotta and strawberry rhubarb compote.

Drinks include bloody marys from Brooklyn’s Industry City Distillery and Sir Kensington’s Gourmet Scooping Ketchup, plus mimosas with fresh-squeezed OJ and a “mystery cocktail.”

The brunch is all-you-can-drink which, when you’re not crowded by other brunchgoers, sounds rather relaxing.
