This Is Our Top Date-Night Option of 2016

Clothes off. (Swim) suits on.

November 11, 2016 9:00 am

No joke: this is our top opening of 2016.

Because there’s nothing like a Japanese soaking tub. And sauna. And steam room. Especially with a date.

We’ve got your whole night figured out. You’ll like it. She’ll like it. Here’s how it goes.

DRINKS
There’s no shortage of great bars in the Tenderloin, but tonight, we’re headed to Tradition. (Don’t forget to make a reservation.) We’re on a one-drink maximum — think Moscow Mules — because we’re about to sweat it all out anyway.

ONSEN
This just-opened complex is the Japanese bathing spa we’ve been waiting for. Fridays and Saturdays are coed, with suits required, and open late. Save some time for the redwood sauna and the steam room. Massages optional, extra and a very good idea.

LATE DINNER
Maintain that chilled-out vibe with dinner at Rusty’s Southern. Start with the Brunswick Stew, move on to the buttermilk fried chicken, and finish up with pie.

OVERNIGHT
Forget about going home: If you followed our instruction, you’re happy, fed, wiped out and drunk. Instead, book into a room at The Marker: chic, quiet rooms high above Geary Street.
