Pac It In

Every drinking dude should have a mid-century American pub — or the closest approximation thereof — to call his pine-bar’d home.

The latest that’s worthy of your tippling attentions: Palmer’s Tavern, the Pac Heights corner joint from the duo behind Bavarian mainstay Leopold’s.

With its lip-red banquettes, brass railings and druggist-cum-soda-fountain barmen, Palmer’s patina of mid-century sexuality will induce whistfulness for the old days, regardless of whether you or your date experienced them the first go ‘round.

Its Fillmore corner location does it a romantic service as well.

As for cocktails: Palmer’s runs the gamut, from traditional British offerings like a Pimm’s Cup (#1, of course) to a fresh take on El Diablo (read: habanero bitters).

Bites are care of Commonwealth alumnus Raymond Tamayo. The brined buttermilk fried chicken takes center stage.

Note: Palmer’s takes no reservations.

Dine early before catching a picture at the Clay Theatre across the street (Blue Jasmine plays at 7:10 and 9:40 through the weekend).

Request a secluded booth to the back right — or, if your party is on the larger side, ask for the private dining space opposite.

Here’s to the old days.
