Leave the car keys at home.

It’s hard to screw up a burger — but that doesn’t make chef Wes Rowe’s ground and beefy recipes any less appealing.

If you love burgers, you probably love Rowe, who later this month will turn his weekly burger pop-up series into brick-and-mortar reality with the opening of WesBurger n’ More right next door to Mission Chinese.

To mark the occasion, he took a moment to share with us his perfect day of S.F. eating.

Disclaimer: leave the car keys at home.

Breakfast

“For breakfast proximity is key, which is why La Palma is my go-to. They’ve been open since 1953, and they’re a big part of the Mission community. I like to bring a buddy and go splitsies on the breakfast torta and the cheese enchiladas verde. They never fail.”

Lunch

Comstock is a favorite for lunch, and North Beach still has a lot of the magic of old San Francisco. The lunch menu is always changing, and you can’t go wrong with the burger. But if I’m being honest – I go for the Cherry Bounce.” (Editor’s note: The Cherry Bounce is on the Comstock’s extensive cocktail menu, and is bourbon with cherry brandy, lemon, angostura and Champagne.)

Snack

Bar Crudo over in the Western Addition has one of the best happy hours in the city. I like to roll in at 5 p.m. and snack on $1 oysters and Champagne.”

Drinks

Trick Dog is my regular bar. Their staff is incredible, and the cocktails are fun and inventive. I love vermouth, and they have an amazing selection.”

Dinner

Loló has some of my favorite Mexican food (and the best cocktails of any bar) in the city. I always get the octopus and the shrimp tacos served on jicama rounds instead of tortillas. The setting is also really lively and exuberant — it’s always a party in there.”

Ed. Note: After-dinner

Call an Uber and drink about a gallon of water before you go to bed.
