Because every man needs a plan, and some of us need that plan with pretty pictures, we present Where to Take Her: a series that answers a gentleman’s most pressing lifestyle questions and recurs whenever we get around to it. This go-round: where to cool down. Sally forth.

Key

Annenberg Space for Photography – Century City – From Hank Williams to Keith Urban, there are more than 110 images of iconic Americana at Country: Portraits of an American Sound, the new exhibit at the Annenberg Space for Photography. Also on display: album covers and memorabilia.

Cass House – Cayucos – The waters in Cayucos are nearly 10 degrees cooler. Stay a couple of nights at the Cass House, a stylish bed and breakfast not far from the shore.

Good Times Davey Wayne’s – Hollywood – Next time you find yourself upstairs at the ’70s pad that is Good Times at Davey Wayne’s, order two “Some People Call Me Maurices.” It’s a sweet and creamy mezcal concoction served over crushed ice. Refreshing and delicious.

iPic Theater – Westwood – Watch ScarJo go full superhero from a leather recliner while servers ferry you lamb sliders and cocktails frozen with liquid nitrogen. That’s iPic: a movie theater for adults.

Lake Big Bear – Big Bear – It’s warm at Big Bear, but the lake is a cool 68 degrees. Go stand-up paddleboarding during the day. Paddles and Pedals will set you straight.

McConnell’s Ice Cream – Downtown – The venerable ice creamers from Santa Barbara just opened a location in the Grand Market. Wander through the stands after grabbing some scoops of their salted caramel or vanilla.

Montage – Beverly Hills – The Montage in Beverly Hills has one of the best saltwater pools in LA. And it’s on the rooftop, so — panoramic views. But to swim in its pristine waters you need to either book a room or a spa treatment. Either way, you win.
