The 6 Things You Need for the Super Bowl

How to host like a man

It’s Super Bowl time again and, though our spirits are more deflated than Belichick’s balls, we owe it to God, country and (former InsideHook cover girl) Charlotte McKinney commercials to enjoy the game. Here’s how to host like a man.

1. Stock your bar

A new booze delivery service just touched down in town: Minibar. They’ve got an expansive supply, but smart money’s on this party planning page. If you want a mixologist behind the pine, Saucey can send those your way.

2. Hire some talented betties to run the show

How do all of those beautiful starlets-to-be make ends meet between auditions? They work for Quench LA, the best looking staffing agency in town. Just look at these pretty faces.

3. Sun screen. Get one.

Because it’s not a SoCal Super Bowl without an outdoor movie theater. And you can get one of those at SunBrite. They make weatherproof flatscreens for backyard bashes.

4. Get the best grub in town

Don’t cook. Holy Cow BBQ in Brentwood now delivers smoky brisket, finger-licking ribs and mouth-watering mac and cheese straight to your dojo. Or go Mexi-style with Tinga’s shredded chipotle chicken tacos and creamy guacamole.

5. Place your bets

Once you’ve plied your pals with a beer or six, take their money. We dialed Case Keefer — sports beat reporter at The Las Vegas Sun — and asked him which prop bets he likes best. Three to put your ducats behind:

  • Take the under on Gronk’s receiving yards (79.5). “He is averaging 10 less than that on the season, and he hasn’t played a defense like Seattle’s.”

  • Take Lebron James’s points scored v. the Timberwolves (-3.5) over Tom Brady’s completed passes. Rationale: the Timberwolves can’t play D; the Legion of Boom can.

  • Take the under on total kickoff returns (5.5; excludes touchbacks). “Sharps (pro bettors, in Vegas parlance) pounded the under here. The game’s in Arizona, so expect good conditions and few mistakes.”

Or do a game of squares through Run My Pools. These guys make grids for big sporting events. Super easy to use. Even easier to tally. Just have your friends sign in and pick their boxes. You can collect cash at the door or through Venmo (just be sure not to say it’s for betting or grids or the Super Bowl)

6. Heading out?

These are our favorite spots throwing Super Bowl parties:

  • Stella Barra: Go here if you’re not a big football fan but want to keep an eye on things and eat some killer pizza.
  • POT at the Lobby Bar: For those who love to party. They’re going to have big screens, mixology and food from Chef Roy Choi (the food truck king).
  • Now Boarding: You’re looking to drink cocktails in a swanky, Pan Am-style bar. They’ll have a taco truck, and their drinks are very tasty.
