Malibu Wines’ New Outpost Is Half Tasting Room, Half Beer Garden

Welcome to your new fall tippling oasis

It’s easy to take these endless days of great weather for granted.

But don’t. Enjoy your hikes. Enjoy your surfboard. And never forget to squeeze in a day of al fresco sipping.

Enter Malibu Wines & Beer Garden, an expansive new tasting establishment from the namesake vineyard.

This new location is in the West Hills and features their Saddlerock and Semler labels as well as 15 handles to let the craft beer flow. Although you’re allowed to bring your own picnic, they’ll have a wood-burning pizza oven cooking chewy, rustic pizzas from Two Doughs on the weekends.

The centerpiece of the estate is the Mission-style manse of silent film star Francis Lederer, who’s best known for his portrayal of Dracula. Built in the 1930s, his residence was declared a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument in 1978, and Malibu Wines & Beer Garden is doing their best to preserve it, keeping the Portuguese tile floors, white-washed brick and stained-glass windows as well as a few photos of Lederer.

Given the fact that the road to this Garden is windy and you’ll be on the sauce, plan on taking a Lyft or Uber. However, if you’re traveling with a large group, charter a bigger van or bus through Swoop, which can ferry groups of 7-24 on board their swanky party lorries.

Let the fall day-drinking commence!
