From the driving, to the parking, to the not knowing where to drive or park, dinner in L.A. is harder than it should be. That’s why we created Dinner Plan — your itinerary to a damn good time.

The Late Dinner Diner

Hollywood

They say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, which is why some of us like to save it for dinner. That’s the M.O. at The Nighthawk, a new restaurant and bar plating decadent breakfast plates like crispy fried chicken and cheddar biscuits with a bottle of “bourbon milk” that tastes like a boozy version of the milk that’s left over in a bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios. There are a few tables, a few banquettes and some standing room around the stately bar, and DJs mix everything from Jay-Z to The Doors. As of now, it’s open 10pm-2am and serves walk-ins only.

The Old School Dance Party

Hollywood

Five blocks east on Hollywood is the new Genesis — the old version was housed in the attic space above Sassafras and if you never went, it was a kick-ass time. The new one is a little fancier. Patrons enter through an elevator that doubles as a photo booth. The spacious main room is a place for dancing and boisterous singalongs. You’ll see the long gold bar first. Dancefloor’s to the left, with a skylit lounge area with plush leather couches to the right. Should you need a snack, Chef Chris Oh (Seoul Sausage, Hanjip) has a menu of late-night bites available at the far left end of the bar.
