A handsome hi-fi console built right here in Chicago

You may not own any records.

Hell, you may not even listen to music. In which case, who are you?

But that doesn’t mean you can’t appreciate the comely charms of Department Chicago’s HiFi-Console player.

This is the vintage entertainment center you’ve been looking for.

Because sure, the record cabinet as centerpiece may have worked for the Don Drapers of yore, but they’re simply unrealistic for the Don Drapers of now.

Handmade in Chicago, the HiFi-Console is everything you want in a stylish, mid-century modern-era console, but outfitted to suit the needs of the modern music lover. It’s as easy as plug-and-play. Bluetooth enabled. With a built-in speaker system that’ll fill the room and then some.

You’ll have your pick of maple or walnut finish, and it’s customizable, so you can you use it to actually hold your wax (room for 120+ records) or — if you elect — to throw in a shelf and connect your television (it has RCA outputs).

The downside: it’s currently only in preorder status via Kickstarter.

The upside: the preorder price is very nice.

Call it a sound purchase.
