This Russian Reality Show Will Allow Rape and Murder … Why?

Our dystopian slog continues, this time in Siberia

And you thought 2016 was bad.

Starting next year, a Russian reality show called Game2: Winter will ostensibly allow contestants to rape and murder each other during a nine-month “survival” test in a remote forest in Siberia, according to Deadline.

The online series, which starts July 1, states that “Everything is allowed. Fighting, alcohol, murder, rape, smoking, anything.” At least two words here are unlike the others.

The contestants will reportedly sign waivers. And be given knives, but not guns. And if they actually, you know, do rape and murder, the show notes: “The police will come and take you away. We are on the territory of Russia, and obey the laws of the Russian Federation.”

As of last month, 60 people had signed up, including one American. Voting on the contestants has already begun on the show’s website.

“This will be a very entertaining and educational project,” series creator Yevgeny Pyatkovsky told Sputnik News.

Entertaining? Educational? I think something got lost in translation there.
