The Golden Globes have always had a reputation for being one of the more relaxed awards shows: they serve booze, they let TV actors mingle with A-list movie stars, they invite Ricky Gervais to show up and tear everyone apart. But do those laid-back vibes at the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s annual event translate to the red carpet?

Yes and no. While some attendees seized the opportunity to experiment — opting for an unconventional fabric, a pop of color or even a six-foot, feathered train — others went the more conventional route, reminding us that it’s possible to go traditional without looking boring. Here are the 10 men who stood out sartorially at the 77th Annual Golden Globes.

Brad Pitt

Why mess with perfection? Brad Pitt’s been to a million of these things, and this look is proof that at age 56, he can still wear the hell out of a classic three-piece tux. It’s not groundbreaking, but it’s a timeless, elegant ensemble that never goes out of style.

Adam Scott

Adam Scott looks dapper in an incredibly well-cut Berluti suit and Montblanc cufflinks. You can’t quite tell from the photo with all the plants in the back, but that’s forest green he’s rocking.

Taika Waititi

The white jacket, black tie and matching shirt and pocket square…everything about the Jojo Rabbit director’s Ermenegildo Zegna XXX look screams Old Hollywood glamour.

Nicholas Braun

When you play a character as awkward and out-of-his-element as Nicholas Braun does on Succession, people’s shock that you actually know how to dress yourself in real life probably gets tiresome pretty quickly. But it must be said: COUSIN GREG CLEANS UP NICE. Everything about this fit, from the watch to the black lapels to the blue that somehow matches his eyes, would earn him the approval of the Roy family’s harshest critics.

Eddie Murphy

The purple velvet-and-satin jacket is the MVP of Eddie Murphy’s outfit here, but don’t overlook what that turtleneck’s doing for him either. And while his red-carpet pose isn’t part of his look per se, he gets bonus points for whatever it is he’s doing with his hands.

Noah Baumbach

“Subtle” isn’t usually how we’d describe a velvet tux, but that’s exactly how it looks on Noah Baumbach. The Marriage Story director pulls it off and manages to look effortlessly cool.

Billy Porter

You can always count on Billy Porter to bring his A-game and grace the red carpet in the most eye-catching ensembles, and this custom Alex Vinash tux with a detachable feathered train is no exception.

Rami Malek

When you’re in a Bond movie, you’ve gotta step up your suit game — even if you’re playing the bad guy. Rami Malek looks sleek and polished in Saint Laurent and Cartier, and the skinny tie enhances his slim cut.

Jason Momoa

Jason Momoa is never afraid to go bold on the red carpet, and this green velvet jacket by Tom Ford (paired with black Valentino pants and a watch and brooch by Cartier) is no exception. It’s a stunner, even if he ditched it for a tank top during the actual ceremony.

Leonardo DiCaprio

Like his Once Upon a Time in Hollywood co-star Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio isn’t exactly reinventing the wheel here. But why would you want to when you’ve got access to an impeccable Armani tux like this one?
