Sunspel’s New Summer Collection Was Inspired by James Bond

Whatever your stance on James Bond in 2018 (we have a few strong opinions), one statement remains true: the man knows how to dress to the proverbial nines.

Helping you put 007’s sense of style to good use: the Ian Fleming Collection, a new line of refined basics that’ll elevate any man’s warm-weather wardrobe.

From Sunspel — a storied British clothier and fabric innovator since 1860 — this new spring collection is an homage to Fleming’s love of the resortwear he wore around his Goldeneye retreat in Jamaica.

Sunspel tailored the polo shirts (and provided the underwear and tees) for Daniel Craig in Casino Royale, refining a style the brand had been making since the 1950s. They also recreated the pale blue shorts worn by Sean Connery during Thunderball for a Bond exhibit, which later inspired the company to create a line of technical, fast-drying, tailored swimwear for the masses.

For the Fleming wares, Sunspel is utilizing Sea Island cotton, an ultrafine cotton with extra-long fibers that’s harvested by hand in the Caribbean. It’s incredibly soft (possibly the world’s softest), silky and durable.

A few highlights of the collection

  • For casual beach days: A refined navy tee with a bound neck and blind stitch hems to keep the finish clean and yourself damn comfy.
  • For dressing up: For finer occasions, you’ll need a white shirt. Try this crisp, slim fit poplin.
  • For late night relaxing: A silky smooth, lightweight sweater with a clean V-neckline that layers well during chilly beach nights.

Plus, equally elevated polos, knit jumpers, trousers and boxer shorts, all in solid colors that pair well together.

Now, when we say “elevated,” we mean prices starting at $120 and cardigans going for just under $300.

You might want to ask 007 himself for a loan.
