Netflix Beats Out Porn as Preferred Streaming Choice of Hotel Guests

Are vacationers getting tamer or just cheaper?

Up there with crisp sheets, nips in the fridge and mints on the pillows, on-demand adult videos are a long-standing tradition in the hotel industry.

Now, thanks to Netflix, that tradition is in danger of becoming extinct, at least according to one group.

Enseo — a company that provides in-room entertainment systems integrated with platforms like Hulu, YouTube and Netflix — conducted a study that found guests in hotel rooms with systems featuring Netflix will stream something 40% of the time. By contrast, in rooms with just adult entertainment options, only 1% of guests will order a video, Variety reports.

While those numbers would seem to indicate hotels should eliminate on-demand adult videos in favor of Netflix, it’s wise to remember the fact that these customers have to pay for porn when they can watch Netflix for free.

After considering that Enseo clearly has some skin in the game, we’re taking the study as well as its conclusions with a hefty grain of salt. Regardless, for guests who are on the fence, we’d recommend saving a few bucks and just browsing Netflix’s ‘R’ selection.
