Though it wasn’t the case for more than 1,000 travelers who were held up at JFK Airport due to a computer glitch, nationwide flights over Memorial Day ran smoother than expected.
Surprisingly, that was even true for passengers at New Jersey’s Newark Liberty International Airport, or, as it’s been dubbed following a new report, “The Most Miserable Airport in the Country.”
After evaluating the 50 busiest airports in the U.S. for factors like on-time arrivals, takeoff waiting times and delays in getting to the gate, MilesCards.com has created a metric called The Misery Score.
Out of a potential 100, Newark claimed this year’s top prize with a Misery Score of 95, followed by O’Hare in Chicago and JFK and LaGuardia in New York, all of which collected a 94. On the other end of the spectrum San Jose (11), Portland (12) and Sacramento (20) rank as the least miserable while Honolulu, Salt Lake City and Seattle rank as the best for on-time summer travel.
Sucks to live in New York. (Just kidding. It’s fairly awesome.)
