The musician is preparing for her Melodrama World Tour. She sat down with Vogue to talk about leaving her teenage years, learning how to cope with success, and the goal of “making music that stands the test of time.”
The singer tells Vogue that she felt overwhelmed by being dubbed the “teenage perspective.” She said that she felt she couldn’t “be everybody’s voice.” She did say that it was very flattering for her music to become a wider thing because originally it was very specific and personal.
Lorde is now 20-years-old and says that the current album reflects a new chapter in her life. She moved away from home and split up with her boyfriend of three years. She told Vogue that the period was so creative she couldn’t write it all down fast enough.
Lorde is from New Zealand, said that she writes down observations all the times and that her “friends must find it annoying.” But that is her music-writing process, and it seems to be working well for her.
