Christie’s evening “Post-War and Contemporary Art” sale on May 10 will be led by Mark Rothko’s 1957 canvas, No. 17, one of his rare “blue” canvases that has a pre-auction estimate is $30-$40 million. To put that price into perspective, Rothko’s, No. 10, recently realized $81,925,000 at Christie’s in May 2015.
