And visions of Maybachs danced in our heads

If a man’s home is his castle, then his car, at the very least, is his man cave. A mobile one.

Thanks to a new initiative, there might be a reason to welcome some extra dwellers into yours.

Backed by Mercedes-Benz and currently being testing in Munich, Croove is a peer-to-peer carsharing platform that allows cars owners to rent their ride out to drivers who need wheels via an app.

Open to all brands and models, the only requirement for a car to qualify as a rental is that it has to be in good condition, not more than 15 years old and be available for at least 24 hours of use.

Renters — who must be 21 and have a valid license — can search through available vehicles and sort them by options like model, availability, price and pickup location as well as see photos.

In exchange for eliminating the small print and handling the details, including insurance, Croove gets a 30 percent cut of the total rental price. “Millions of cars are only used for a few hours a week — and we take care of the rest of the time,” says Croove founder Daniel Rohrhirsch.

If the service ever expands out of Germany to the U.S., you may wanna get your Croove on.
