Watch out, Superman. Captain America recently decided to add flying to his résumé. That is, Chris Evans, the actor who plays the Marvel comic book superhero on the big screen, took the skydiving plunge for an Esquire cover feature set to publish in the magazine’s April issue.

The jump had been planned beforehand as a cool, “ride-along” moment for Evans to pursue with the story’s writer. But that didn’t keep Evans from freaking out the night before. He told the feature’s author, Maximillian Potter, that “[he] started exploring the sensation of ‘What if the chute doesn’t open?'” And in terms of getting permission from Marvel for his real-life stunt, Evans kept things in perspective:

“Well, they give you all these crazy insurance policies, but even if I die, what are they going to do? Sue my family? They’d probably cast some new guy at a cheaper price and save some money.”

Per Potter’s feature, the last time Evans went skydiving was with ex-girlfriend Jessica Biel on Valentine’s Day. You can watch his chute open, and all the action leading up to the big jump, below.
