Here’s to the art opening. Drinks, plenty of eye candy and maybe even something fresh for your rumpus room wall.

And because taste is subjective and time is precious, here are five vetted options. No MFA required.

James Roper @ Mirus
Built on a bed of Hollywood disillusionment, Roper’s pieces “follow the strangely skewed spiritual journeys of a Beverly Hills rich kid, a pornstar …” Actually, let’s skip the grant thesis. Guy’s got visual skills. Opens tomorrow.

Jesús Benítez @ Fifty24SF
Jesús is a standout street artist from Mexico, better known as Dhear to the mural set. This is his first solo show in the States, and if his past work is any indication, it’ll be well worth the trip to the Lower Haight. Opens tonight.

Jim Houser @ FFDG
Self-taught Philly native Jim Houser deals in bright colors, strong outlines and detached irony. The results are light and energetic, despite the unfortunate lives of his subjects (see: ironic detachment). Opens tonight.

Monster Drawing Rally @ Verdi Club
Unlike your standard gallery experience, MDR is a spectacle. Some 120 artists are given table space and the necessary materials to produce new work while you sip Fat Tire and ogle. Plus food trucks and DJs. Opens tonight.

KEFE @ Shooting Gallery
KEFE is a DBA portmanteau of artists Kelly Tunstall and Ferris Plock, and this collection draws inspiration from the Japanese Ukiyo-e tradition, so, you know, samurai in a ballcap. Opens tomorrow.
