Your guide to this year’s US Open
The US Open kicks off today. Tennis, anyone?
Where to Watch
If you’re not taking the 7 to Flushing, Midtown’s Sanctuary Hotel will be throwing tennis bashes all tourney long. They’re pouring a special cocktail menu inspired by the Open (try the Honey Deuce) and screening night matches live on both the Haven Rooftop and a 111-inch projection screen at the downstairs Sanctuary Ultra Lounge. So now you’ve got happy hour plans.

Notorious tennis bad boy Jimmy Connors knows a thing or two about the Open – he won it five times, famously declaring “New Yorkers love it when you spill your guts out there. You spill your guts out at Wimbledon, and they make you stop and clean it up.”
In his recently released autobiography The Outsider, Connors dishes plenty on his time atop the Wild West era of tennis: his legendary beef with McEnroe ("Mac is the one player I can watch limping around the court and feel good about saying 'F--- that guy.'"), his notorious gambling habit and perhaps craziest of all, the fact that he cheated on a woman who looked like this.

Look the Part
No matter where you’re watching, show a little spirit with some tennis-inspired duds. For our greenbacks, CT brand Boast boasts the best polo in the game. One, because the line draws its inspiration from the golden age of Connors and McEnroe, meaning classic slim fits. Two, because their signature Japanese Maple Leaf could easily be mistaken for … another kind of leaf. G’head and stick it to the stuffy crowd.
