This Is Not Your Grandfather’s Slingshot

WTF is it?

Because the interwebs are crammed full of crazy things, and sometimes the purpose of those things is not immediately discernible, we present WTF Is It?

WTF is it?
You’re looking at, wait for it, a weapon that’s officially called the “SS-12 Super Power Hunting Laser Slingshot with Adjustable Spring and Arrow Pad for Shooting Game.”

What’s it do?
Equipped with a laser sight and a flashlight, the SS-12 lets owners hunt small game, engage in target practice and torment Mr. Wilson with ease and accuracy. For individuals who would rather shoot arrows than bolts, the SS-12 has an attachment that converts it into a bow.

Who makes it?
A company called Assolar that has virtually no presence on the web other than on Amazon. We’re not sure exactly why this is the case. And there is no apparent connection with either solar power or asses.

Is it in any way useful?
Could be. The wrist-mounted slingshot has an easy-to-hold pistol grip to make aiming easier, and an adjustable spring mechanism that adds power and acceleration.. If you’ve never shot anything larger than a squirt gun, this could be an easy first step towards a AK-47.

Do I need a license for this thing?
Nope. Why would you need a license for a potentially deadly weapon you can buy online?

Do I need to register this thing?
Na. No reason to keep track of weapons like this being sold to anyone with a valid credit card.

Should I buy this thing?
Why not? Who really needs two eyes anyhow? The slingshot is on Amazon for $85 now.
