An NYC Loft in Spirit, a Roaming Tiny Home in Form

The Rook is a micro dwelling with immaculate taste

What has the feel of a hip industrial artist’s loft, but also has the touches of a high-end apartment and can be taken on the road? That could only be the 22-feet long Rook House by Chattanooga, Tennessee-based Wind River Tiny Homes

The company has been in operation since 2013, and while they’re fluent working within a variety of aesthetics, this particular build is reminiscent of a New York artist’s loft, with its refurbished components and smart built-in storage systems. In fact, there’s at least one way it puts the typical New York apartment to shame: there’s a washing machine in the loft.

The Rook House is built with extra-durable materials for the longest possible lifespan. With a base price of $62,000 that heads north the more custom you decide to go, the long-term cost of a Wind River Tiny Home, with reduced utilities and mortgage payments combined, makes a strong argument for ditching a foundation for something nomadic.

In answer to one of the questions most frequently asked — why tiny homes? — the company says a “tiny home can be a great path to owning your very own dwelling without having a life defined by the mortgage you have to pay (we want you to keep your kidneys).”

Well, when you put it that way. Head on over to Wind River Tiny Homes for more details.
