Defunct Air Traffic Control Tower Now a Mad Men-esque Hotel Room

You don't let views like these go to waste

A new space at Stockholm’s Arlanda is taking the airport hotel to new heights. (Sorry.)

The airport, Stockholm’s main one, outgrew its former air traffic control tower. But why let a gorgeous, glass-walled space go to waste? The airport partnered with Swedish conceptual artist Cilla Ramnek on the space’s design to create a one-of-a-kind living space — think of it as Mad Men set in an airport, all sleek, straight lines and a definitively mid-century color palette: cool blues and white, with splashes of pink.

You’ve probably guessed that the out-of-use tower isn’t available for purchase — it’s still surrounded by the airport. It is, however, available as a one-night vacation spot, for five winners (and their plus-ones). They’ll also be put up for three nights in a rental operated by HomeAway, the vacation rental website that’s co-sponsoring the contest.
