LUMO Architects, the Danes who built our favorite nature cabins to promote outdoor adventuring, have come correct with a new concept in partnership with Land Rover: a tiny, packable cabin that can collapse and fit into the interior of their best-selling SUV, the Discovery Sport.
The little cabin, which fits two adults, was designed to fold down small enough to fit entirely in the rear load space of the SUV. There’s a solar charger on the roof, but other objects can be plugged in by connecting to the car’s 12V power socket. There is an an optional tailgate seat for use during nice weather, or you can seal it up and the cabin will support you in temps as low as -6 F.
It was tested out by 12-time Everest climber Kenton Cool to make sure it is durable enough to handle the extreme elements of the North Pole and beyond.
For now, it’s a one-off, but Land Rover will be using the cabin over the next few years to support its partnerships and Land Rover Experience center events.
