It’s almost that time again:

Every single guy at the bar wearing the same black pea coat season.

Here’s a thought: 1) Burn yours, and then 2) Head over to Exley, a new name in the men’s outerwear game that just debuted a collection that covers any and all garden-variety winter situations.

Exley’s place of origin: Where else? New England, land of nor’easters and gentility, which gives them pretty much the perfect pedigree for making natty coats and jackets. They source their premium materials (heavy-duty cotton canvas, butter-soft merino wool) from Italy and the UK before hand-cutting and -sewing everything on site in their workshop in New Bedford, Mass.

At launch, Exley is offering nine items, from vests and rain trenches to shackets and bombers. The rest of the fall/winter collection — including their heavier top coats — is set to arrive by mid-October.

We recommend snatching up one (or all) of these three neck-breaking garments to tide you over in the meantime.

1. The Apex Shirt Jacket: “It’s called apex because it’s without equal.” Primaloft-filled liner for warmth, merino wool outer for comfort. Pairs well with some chunky selvedge denim and a vest. Speaking of …

2. The Waxed Cotton Service Vest: Good for wood-chopping, tailgating and drinking beer on the patio 1-2 months later than a un-vested person would be drinking beer on the patio. And don’t worry about spilling: Exley’s waxed cotton will keep you drier than a Mormon on the Lord's Day.

3. The Essential Parka: Water-resistant shell. Detachable hood. Hand-quilted lining. Hidden interior pockets for all your gewgaws. This is pretty much the essential fall jacket — which is probably why they named it as such.
