Fall camping, right this way

A few of your friendly InsideHook editors are going camping this weekend in Big Sur.

Because while the summer camping trip is an American pastime, we find that it’s better to go when there’s a chill in the air.

That’s when there’s more Thoreau-ian peace and quiet which is, y’know, the reason you’re going camping in the first place.

With our excursion in mind, we’re setting you up with one of your own.

So load up your daypack, tie your hiking kicks, ice down the provisions and look northwest to Apple River Canyon State Park.

Inside: the one state park you need to visit this fall. Think of it as our own little Grand Canyon hidden within the rolling flat farmlands of Illinois. It’s beautiful.

The hiking trails are moderate and peaceful, especially when you have them all to yourself, which will most likely be the case.

And don’t fret, we’ll make sure you’ve got the necessary gear.

Enjoy the woods. We’ll see you out there.
