Dinner Plan: The Thursday Night Rager

LA’s best new social club only opens one night a week

From the driving, to the parking, to the not knowing where to drive or park, dinner in L.A. is harder than it should be. That’s why we created Dinner Plan — your itinerary to a damn good time.

This week, we head to West Hollywood to check out the best new nightlife venue in town. Caveat emptor: it’s only open one night a week — Thursday.

Get Kitted: Related Garments
Fall in L.A. doesn’t see much of a drop in temps from summer. That means this all-black ensemble that the brothers Apel (who run Related Garments) put together for us last month is still very much in season. It’ll stand you out in a crowd in, even in West Hollywood.

CHECK IT OUT

Get Fed: ink.well
West Hollywood
Top Chef winner Michael Voltaggio just moved his restaurant, ink, to La Cienega’s famed restaurant row. The new version, dubbed ink.well, has a convivial energy that doesn’t beat you over the head. You’ll still find Voltaggio’s eggy gnocchi (a must-get) and street corn, but new additions — like a dry-aged beef and bacon burger with whipped cheese and mixed Brussels sprouts served shredded and blistered over a creamy tofu mustard — prove that the chef is still at the top of his game.

Stay Up All Night: Poppy
West Hollywood
The Nice Guy. Delilah’s. The Peppermint Club. The H.Wood Group knows nightlife like Buffett knows indexes. Their latest iteration, Poppy, will most likely be the hotspot of the year. Located in the former STK and Bagatelle spots (across the street from ink.well), it’s only open on Thursdays. But man, it’s worth the wait. Imagine a rollicking cross between a British library and the garden scene from Alice and Wonderland, — replete with pixies in sexy Victorian outfits — and you’ve got the gist. Unless you know a guy, you’ll likely need to buy a table. If you find yourself inside without a table, our money is on the back bar behind the garden, located to your right upon entrance. You’ll be leaving late, so go ahead and plan to be “working from home” come Friday.
